I Went Undercover
I Went Undercover

One night in the club, I was sitting with my regular customer, and this customer was paying for my time to stay off the floor and to be with him. During that time, we sat and ordered some food and drinks. That particular night in the club, it was colder than normal, so my regular offered me his jacket to keep warm. He was a big man, and his jacket had draped over me like a blanket. Which from the head down, made me look like a regular customer/ woman since you could no longer see my outfit.
Together, we looked like a couple that had walked into the club as a duo. As we were sitting there enjoying each other’s company, many entertainers kept approaching us thinking that we were a couple. But when they would approach us, they wouldn’t introduce themselves to us, or even ask if it was okay to come join our conversation. Most of the women would just walk up to us, and without any introductions or simple hellos, would just ask us if we wanted to do a dance or if we wanted to have some fun. My regular and I were mostly taken aback by how upfront and direct most of the women were, and when we had politely declined their offer, their attitude immediately changed from a gentle smile to almost a look of disappointment and judgment. And as quick as they had approached us, they left just as fast. None of them had given us more than 10 seconds of total interaction, and all immediately would just ask for a dance.
It was shocking to see as an entertainer how most of the women treated the customers inside the club so poorly and so disrespectfully. With the quick approach, it made me feel like they were not interested in me as a person at all, but rather as a thing that could make a quick buck off of. As a professional, it was weird watching the girls not even try to sit down and engage in a conversation with the customers and try to make any form of connection with them. It made me understand why most of the customers inside the club would feel so disconnected from the entertainers.
If the entertainers knew that even sitting down with the customers and engaging in even a few minutes of conversation, it could drastically change the attitude and possible outcome of the interaction. Professional entertainers know that giving even some extra time to talk increases your chances of selling a VIP dance exponentially. They know that it doesn’t matter how attractive you are, it’s the connection you have with your customer that really sells.
