Zooming in and out of the Big Picture

Zooming in and out of the Big Picture

Sep 03, 2022

It’s so incredibly important to be able to see the big picture of what you’re trying to accomplish, just as much as it is important to be able to zoom in and see the details of it. The little actions every day that you complete, that adds up to the big goal.

I think sometimes when we think about a long term plan, we can get caught up in the overwhelm of how it can feel to accomplish something like that. And most of the time, that overwhelming sensation is just not real. It’s your brain or your anxiety telling you that you have something to do that you’ve never done before. And because the brain only likes predictability, and does not enjoy new situations, the brain creates feelings of “overwhelm, anxiety, depression and despair” about you doing something new and very big.

Your brain will most likely feel intimidated by these big goals that you have. Which is why it’s so important to be able to zoom in, and sometimes just only focus on your next step. One step at a time is most important here when trying to accomplish a long term objective. If you can zoom in and see your next steps you have to take and just focus on those, you will create momentum and be super productive. This is important because in the grand scheme of your 5-10 year plan, your little actions every day are what adds up and allows that long term plan to be completed.

A long term plan is great to have, but if your long term plan overwhelms you so much that it paralyzes you from taking action, you need to zoom in and just focus on your very next step. The details of your long term plan are the important pillars that create your big picture and allow you to seize the hold of your long term plan.

If you can master this ability to zoom in and also zoom out when needed, you will be so much further ahead of the game than everyone else who doesn’t know this information.
